Living Life in Rural Iowa Newsletter 10.28.2026

Hello Everyone!

How's everyone doing? If you are on social media, you might have seen this:

If that doesn't say you should be getting prepared, I am not sure what does.

There has been some concerning news lately about the possibility of another world war or conflict. I think this article sums it up well and give you an idea of where the United States and other countries are heading: Is the world preparing for war? Why US, UK, Japan and Europe are ringing emergency alarm bells.

Please don't bury your head in the sand or think it can't happen here. Anything is a possibility when the world is at war. In this case, the access to technology is a good thing. Imagine the American people after Pearl Harbor who had no idea Japan was going to attack, but Washington D.C. did know. With all the information available now, we have the opportunity to know what our government and other governments are doing.

Another thing that has been on the horizon is widespread cyberattacks. While a person could be fine after a while, the chaos and confusion this will cause would be catastrophic. So many people, businesses, and governments rely on technology for almost everything.

Sweden was telling its citizens to prepare a year ago and they published a pamphlet for them that was very good. I printed it out and have it available to help with my prepping. You can find it here: In Case of Crisis or War

I don't mean to be gloom and doom. I know this is not positive or uplifting, but this is necessary information for you to do what you need to do. Imagine being without the Internet or electricity for long periods of time. Imagine if major manufacturers were not able to produce products due to lack of inputs and utilities. Imagine if gas was not available. Imagine if you could not use your debit or credit cards.

What would you do?

Exactly. You still have time to fix this situation now.

Hello Everyone! How's everyone doing? A lot of news in the last month hasn't been good. While I believe in finding the good in everything and not letting fear control me, the current and potential global events has made me review and renew my preparedness efforts. I have also been assessing and reviewing my ability to grow more food. The news of the plague from Russia is very concerning. There is a likelihood it will not reach the United States, but we are a very global and mobile society. I...

Hello Everyone! How's everyone doing? With all the news out there and most of it discouraging, I think it's important to check on our family and friends. One headline has stuck with me recently: JP Morgan Warns A Global Food Crisis Next Year. With diesel prices projected to rise, a potential AI bubble bursting, and worsening weather conditions, one really needs to take stock of their preps. In other words, take inventory of what you own and fill in the gaps. This is why we prepare. By...
